Projected decline in activity in the international transportation market.
The Kommersant publication, referring to the Danish container company Maersk, reports a predicted decline in activity in the international transportation market.
The world’s largest sea carrier on November 2, following the results of the third quarter, reported an increase in net profit to $ 8.9 billion, which turned out to be 65% more compared to last year’s data. The company also reaffirmed its full-year 2022 EBITDA guidance at $37 billion.
However, if in 2022 the prices for sea transportation reached their peak, then in the third quarter, representatives of the logistics company recorded a decrease in demand, and this trend, according to experts, will intensify in the foreseeable future:
“The conflict in Ukraine, the energy crisis in Europe, high inflation and the coming global recession have many clouds on the horizon. This will affect consumer activity, which in turn will affect international shipping and demand for logistics services,” Maersk said.
